Applications
Here are some applications we have completed. Click on each area for more information, a demo and links to the application.
Wayfinding: Partnering with Integrature, we have created an application framework that combines navigation features with rich media content delivery. This family of applications can guide tourists to points of interest, help them find critical local resources (ticket office, parking facilities) and provide multimedia content about geo-located sites. It can just as easily help customers find business locations and direct calls and email to geo-located sales agents.
There is a full back-end database server so specific content can be added, removed, or modified, in real time, without the need for an approval cycle with Apple. Media and geographic content is delivered asynchronously, and cached locally for a great user experience while maintaing the flexibility to modify content on-the-fly.

Specialized Timing Devices: The combination of a rich UI and precise timing functionality makes the iPhone a perfect platform for specialized, sport-specific timing applications. iStroke is an application for rowing that extends basic stopwatch functionality with features for rowing coaches and spectators. GPS functionality is used to create a 'distance covered' timing mode. All timing modes include stroke rate calculators and in the multi-boat mode you can track stroke rates for 3 different boats at the same time. All session results are stored locally and can be view later or transmitted via email.
Social Networking and Viral Marketing: Many segments of the iPhone application market are saturated with thousands of apps. If you are going try to make it in any of these areas you will need to use non-traditional marketing techniques to your advantage. Twitter, Facebook, email, etc. are all ways you can get the word out about your apps. Greenhut Productions asked AppFactory to create an application framework to deliver their entertainment sound file samples. This is arguably the most crowded app segment of all so we added email and Facebook Connect marketing tools to the framework.
Media Content Viewer: AppFactory created a series of graphic novel applications for MyRomanceStory.com To give the artwork top billing, the applications controls are cleverly hidden and come into view only when needed. There are now over 30 episode apps available using this framework.
